How do you use Pro 7 :

I use SC for the analysis of cricket skills; that is across the range of batting, bowling and fielding. I have a 'high speed' camera which captures footage at 300fps, rather than the standard 25 fps, this in conjunction with Siliconcoach gives me the opportunity to give detailed feedback to the participants.

I also use Siliconcoach to make up presentations to give to players for their own opportunity to analyse their game. With experience in working within first class cricket for a long duration, I am also often asked to create presentations for other coaches taking their cricket coaching qualifications.

Focusing on Technique to get Big Results

When people say technique doesn't matter or you're wasting your time analyzing video footage - think about this for a minute!

Skeleton is Winter Olympic sport. At the start of the race the athlete sprints in a bent over position, pushing a 30kg sled for approximately 25-30m to generate speed, then launches themselves into a prone position on their sled and negotiates their way down a 1500m bobsleigh track; through a series of hair-raising corners, at speeds up to 140km/hr with their face just inches from the ice!

Around fifty percent of variance in overall race performance is determined by how fast the athlete pushes their sled at the top of the track (i.e. the first 50m of the bobsleigh track). So only those athletes capable of producing explosive push performances, coupled with optimal driving skill and experience, can stake a claim on the winners' podium.

Splitscreen
The splitscreen feature allows me to visually highlight performance differences between good and bad technique. I can compare a surfer's manoeuvre with a more correct model featuring another surfer, or simply compare the same surfer in the same situation, one performed incorrectly, one performed well

Stopwatch

When used with the splitscreen feature, the stopwatch display can visually highlight the difference between correct timing in good performance, and incorrect timing (usually rushed movements) in some surfing manoeuvres. There is a "holding" phase in some surfing manoeuvres, where a body position is held for a longer duration to utilize the wave's power effectively. When the holding phase is used correctly, there is an effective marrying of the surfer's and wave's power.

How do you use Siliconcoach :

I use Siliconcoach to visually provide correct technique examples when in theory sessions at training camps. After each training camp everyone receives a personalised dvd report produced using siliconcoach. These dvds usually contain between 3 - 8 skill presentations, that the surfers can watch when they return to their "home" beach.

In addition, Siliconcoach is an integral part of my distance coaching program, where surfers send footage of their surfing for review and analysis.
