siliconcoach used at Stanford University.
Siliconcoach Pro is being used in a number of research projects and with athletes at the Human Performance Lab at Stanford University in California, Dr Besier, the lab director, is a strong supporter of the software and has included it along with other biomechanical and physiological testing equipment in their extensive array of world class equipment.
Jenny McConnell, a very well know and highly respected Physiotherapist from Australia, is working in the Stanford lab with Dr Besier looking at whether taping the shoulder can alter its mechanics when throwing. They are using a 3D Vicon system for the arm positioning, multi-channel EMG for studying muscle activity and siliconcoach to get ball velocity and also see of there are some simple markers of shoulder and arm position that clinicians could use to assess the shoulder in their own clinical practice.
